FeynMed August 2026 Update
August has been another busy month for us! We have some new financial support, we had another VIP visitor, and we booked our QSub call with the US Food and Drug Administration for our 510(k) application.
Financial Support from National Research Council Innovation Research Assistance Program
We are receiving advisory services and funding of up to $64,300 from the National Research Council Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC IRAP). Funding will support our research and development project entitled “Nanostructured Silver Advanced Wound Care Product Commercialization” in 2026-2027. This will support finalization of our manufacturing process & regulatory strategies, and initiation of required preclinical testing.
510(k) Submission
A key regulatory milestone for us was submitting a QSub request to the US FDA. We submitted a proposal to the FDA for the testing that our Trivera™ dressing will undergo. In October, the FDA will respond to our proposal. We have an amazing team that generated this submission, including Dr. Patricia Nadworny, our Chief Scientific Officer, and Dr. Tyler Boone, our Chief Operating Officer. We also benefited from substantial support from Liz Wang and Dr. Laura Rose at Deffai.
VIP Visit
We were graced by Councillor Karen Principe from the City of Edmonton. Councillor Principe is a strong supporter of small business and innovation. It was wonderful to see her here. I completely forgot to take a picture!
Environmental Panels
Much of our team gathered in early August for some manual labour! Prof Rob Burrell had a collection of environmental chamber components on his property that had to be moved to our pilot plant. Four of us gathered and loaded them onto a trailer and then deposited them at the plant. Now the work of cleaning them up begins so they can be assembled into a functional space.

The World Union of Wound Healing Societies is like the World Cup of wound care, in that it happens every 4 years and brings participants from around the world. This is your chance to meet FeynMed’s own superstar, Dr. Patricia Nadworny (we like to think of her as our own Erling Haaland). She’ll be presenting a poster, so it should be easy to track her down.
Japan Patent Granted
Finally, we are also pleased to announce that our patent application in Japan, entitled "Process for making antiinflammatory, antimicrobial, and viricidal materials" has been granted (Patent No. 7874609, 08/06/26). It focuses on the method for coating our technology (metal matrix composites!) onto various materials used in medical devices.
