FeynMed September 2026 Update
We hardly saw each other in September! It was a month full of travel, learning, and conferences.
WUWHS Update
Patricia attended the World Union of Wound Healing Societies Congress 2026 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, where they celebrated WUWHS' silver anniversary (this is both true, and Patricia made me include it), and where she presented a poster entitled "Unique Chemistry Impacts Activity of Nanostructured Silver". It was great to meet with leaders in the field; learn more about the science of wound healing, other technologies, and best practices; and discuss opportunities for collaboration. We are reminded again how challenging chronic wounds are and that there is still so much need for good solutions to address them.
Dual Use Update
There are so many dual use events upcoming! We are midway through the application process for a defence-based accelerator program, so we’re paying attention here. Upcoming dual-use events include Business on the Base on 14 October at CFB Edmonton and back-to-back events in Medicine Hat on 28-29 October, which Jason will likely attend.
Pitches – So Many Pitches
Jason, Tyler, and Patricia have all been busy with pitches. Our September pitches were:
· lvlup Power of the Pitch week (Patricia)
· Virtual VC Pitch Conference (Patricia)
· Alberta Capital Connect, where we made the top 15 and will pitch again in November (Patricia)
· BioAngels 1st Pitch Office Hours (Patricia)
· BioAlberta Health and Life Sciences Investor Engagement Summit (Tyler)
Upcoming in October:
· 1 Oct: StartupTNT Fall Summit (Jason)
· 5 Oct: Startup Showcase at Enterprise Square (Jason)
· 5 Oct: UofA Investor Speed Dating (Jason)
· 7 Oct: Deep Tech Day at Edmonton Unlimited (TBD)
· 16 Oct: Angel Investor briefing with select investors (The Team)
We always learn something from these pitches. Right now, based on feedback from these events, we’re sharpening our go-to-market and, without violating securities law, figuring how to explain exit opportunities to prospective investors.
Pitch Success!
Don’t pitch against Arushi in a competitive situation! She is a beast on the podium. Arushi Tandon, a student in Prof. Rob Burrell’s lab, won best oral presentation at the Faculty of Engineering Graduate Research Symposium. It’s Prof Burrell’s inventions that FeynMed is validating and commercializing, and we love to see his students’ work recognized.
Surfaces in Biomaterials Foundation (SIBF) BioInterface 2026
Patricia will be speaking in the Medical Fibers, Fabrics, and Membranes session (Oct 7) on the topic "Unique Processes Impact Biological Activity of Nanostructured Silver Platform Technology"; Tyler will be co-chairing a panel on "Biomaterial Advances in Urology and Anti-infective interfaces" (Oct 8), and Shubha will be speaking in the panel, with his talk entitled "Beyond Standard of Care: Evidence Based Engineering for the Future of Urological Outcomes".
